Best MTG Accessories

Every Magic: The Gathering (MTG) player knows the importance of having good accessories to play with and to keep their cards safe. That is why we have made a list with some of the best MTG accessories around for those that need a bit of help with the choice.

1. Card sleeves :

A good quality sleeve is the first accessory an MTG player should buy, considering that this will help to keep our cards safe and undamaged. The only thing you take into account is their durability, they may tear after some usage. However, if you invest in some high-quality sleeves, they won't happen quickly or frequently.

The most popular sleeve types right now are the Japanese "Perfect fit" from KMC, which combined with a standard opaque sleeve give your singles the best protection. The opaque sleeves can be from any well-known brand like Ultrapro or Dragon Shield. Yes, that means double-sleeving your cards, but when you look at the current price of some singles, it makes total sense!

2. Deck boxes

Another great purchase for MTG players are deck boxes. These are perfect to store and protect our decks, and there is a wide variety of them out there to choose from.

As you are aware, deck boxes are ideal for moving your deck around. The key point here is getting one with the right size for your deck. If you're playing Commander, aim for a larger box to fit all the cards. However, if you're playing a 60-card format, like Standard, Modern, etc., don't go too big, or the cards will move inside the the box.

3. Dice and tokens

Dices and tokens are a must for MTG, as they help to keep track of life, planeswalker points, and other in-game mechanics.

Again, there is a wide variety of these accessories on the market to choose from. If you're looking for something simple, then a set of basic dice should do the trick. However , if you want something more flashy, then there are plenty of token sets with beautiful designs out there.

4. Playmats

A playmat is a great addition to any MTG player's collection, as this will help us protect our cards from common things like sweat, dirt, etc. while we are playing in public locations. Another advantage is that it will not damage our cards while shuffling them.

These mats come in a huge variety of designs and styles so you can choose one that matches your personality or the game you're playing. Often they are made out of rubber, providing anti slip properties and protecting your cards from moisture damage.

6. Backpacks

Another accessories that every MTG player should have is a backpack. This will provide us with a safe and comfortable way to bring our cards around while we are travelling, plus it will offer additional space for other objects like snacks, drinks, laptops, etc.

There are three main types of backpacks: the sling bag, the standard school-type bag, and the backpack with a large pocket to store MTG boxes in. You can find them in a wide range of prices, so it's up to you if you want something basic or expensive.

7. Binders

Lastly, MTG binders and portfolios are perfect for storing your cards while you're not using them. This way you'll keep them safe and in good condition, and you'll be able to see all of your cards at a glance.

Binders can come in different sizes, colors, and styles. The main thing to look out for when buying one is that it has a tight fit. This will keep your cards inside and prevent them from falling out while you transport your binder around.

As with most MTG accessories, in the market there are plenty of options in every price range you can imagine. So don't be afraid to search online in order to find the one that's right for you.

And if you still miss a few MTG accessories, worry not as they are probably already being developed and you just have to wait for them to become available on the market!
